Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills at City Training Services
This qualification is aimed at individuals who want to work as a pharmacy technician, the role of the pharmacy technician is regulated by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). An individual may be able to register with the GPcC upon satisfactory completion of the required registerable qualifications and training period. These qualifications include the Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science (QCF) and the Edexcel Level 3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (NVQ). The role of the pharmacy technician is to provide support to the pharmacist and deliver patient focused services, such as dispensing and aseptic services etc.
The apprenticeship framework comprises of
- Work based assessment (NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Service Skills)
- Underpinning knowledge (BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science – assessment based )
- Functional skills to Level 2 (projects and tests)
- Employees rights and responsibilities
- Personal learning and thinking skills (PLTS)
GCSE A to C in Maths, English and Science preferred
The NVQ is delivered through practical and written knowledge assessments which are carried out in the workplace and apprentices will be required to produce work and build an e-portfolio of evidence. The BTEC is delivered as either a College based day-release course or a blended learning approach of College and on-line learning.
There are a range of post registration courses available to pharmacy technicians looking to progress in their sector, they may include a range of higher education qualifications or other work-related education and training to support continuing profession development.
