A Level Physics at Spalding Grammar School

Outline

We are following the OCR Specification A which builds on knowledge and understanding appropriate to at least grade BB in Double Award Science or B in Single Award Physics. Student considering this course should also have obtained at least a B grade in GCSE Mathematics.

The aims of the course are to:

  • Develop students’ interest in, and enthusiasm for physics, including an interest in further study and careers in the subject;
  • Enable students to appreciate how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society;
  • Encourage students to develop and demonstrate a deeper appreciation of the skills, knowledge and understanding of How Science Works; enable students to develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of Physics and how they relate to each other.

 

Entry requirements

At least BB in double science or a grade B in triple award physics. A grade B in GCSE maths is also required

Future opportunities

With three A-levels you can progress to higher education to study a variety of different subjects at degree level. A-level Physics gives you access to university to study a BSc in Physics or other areas including engineering and medicine. A-levels also offer the high standard of education which many employers require as part of their entry criteria onto training programmes.
