What is the course about?

The AS course at King Edward VI aims to provide you with an introduction to physics and its uses and to prepare you for possible further study offering:

• a broad vision of physics as it is today;

• a simple introduction to the essence of quantum mechanical thinking;

• training in the essential skills of experimentation and data handling, including dealing with uncertainty and systematic error.

It is thoroughly up-to-date, in content and in the modes of learning. There is a student’s CD ROM that accompanies the course. This is a resource with a wealth of material and can be accessed via the school website from any home computer, access to a computer and printer at home is a prerequisite. The Physics is set in a variety of contexts, with a balance between interesting applications and fundamental ways of thinking about and understanding the world.
