Psychology AS/A2 Level at Chichester High School for Boys

Course description

In Year 12 you will study 6 topics: Social Influence e.g.whywe obey and conform; Memory e.g. use models todescribe how memory works; Attachment e.g. discoverwhy our first relationships are so important; Approaches inPsychology e.g. look at the various ways we can describebehaviour; Psychopathology e.g. characteristics of OCDand Research methods e.g. explore the ways in whichpsychologists obtain information.

In Year 13 the topics that will be covered includeBiopsychology e.g. flight or fight response; Issues andDebates e.g. explain why gender bias can skew knowledge.

The final three topics will be selected from nine optionswhich include relationships; gender; cognition anddevelopment; schizophrenia; eating disorders; stress;forensic psychology; addiction and aggression.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above with a grade B in Englishand Science.

Assessment

The assessment will include 3 examinations, each 2 hourslong at the end of Year 13. You will be tested using multiplechoice, short answer and extended writing questions.
