Land Based Mechanisation - Level 3 Extended Diploma (Edexcel) at HARTPURY COLLEGE

Course description

This course is a good balance between agriculture and engineering. The first year units have a strong agricultural content which includes one livestock and crops production unit. You have opportunities to gain skills and experience in our five workshop facilities and from operating some of the latest tractors and range of equipment. Machinery operations give you the chance to gain experience when opportunity allows on the college farm and estate, making use of the range of tractors and equipment that we have.

Course content

In your second year Business and Machinery Management units allow you to learn about these aspects of the industry. Engine and transmission units allow you to learn about maintaining tractors and equipment carrying out practical tasks in our workshops.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs at grade C or above which must include English Language and Mathematics.

Financial information

Students under 19 on 31 August 2015 are free (full time courses only). Examination fees for main qualifications are also free. Students aged 19 to 23 may need to pay tuition fees. We may be able to waive your fees if you are unemployed and receiving Jobseekers Allowance, studying your first full level 2 qualification or level 3 qualification. Students aged 24 and over. You may need to pay for your course. Educational visits charge: An annual £65 fee is payable for all students and covers the cost of outside visits, special speakers and a contribution to the cost of administration.

Future opportunities

Students will also study welding as part of their studies at Hartpury. If you wish to be registered at the end of the course for an industry recognised qualification Level 1 City and Guilds in Mig and Arc Welding, there will be a small registration fee of £75.00. Our students have gone on to some fantastic careers in a wide range of industries and enjoyed some exceptional work placements all over the world, helping them open doors to their dream careers.
