Biology GCSE at Bexhill College

Course description

You may need a science GCSE for your chosen career e.g. teaching and nursing.

Course content

1. Cell Biology
2. Organisation
3. Infection and Response
4. Bioenergetics
5. Homeostasis and Response
6. Inheritance, Variation and Evolution 
7. Ecology
There will be 10 required practicals during the year that must be completed to pass the course but will not count towards your final grade.

Entry requirements

A Range Of 3/2 Or D-E Grades. Students Who Do Not Have English And Maths At Grade C/4 Or Above Will Be Required To Take These Qualifications Alongside.

Assessment

The course will be assessed by exam only. There will be no controlled assessments.
 

Financial information

There may be optional visits involved in the course. There is a lab book from the Cashier's Office for £2.00.

Future opportunities

A GCSE in Biology is a good qualification for many other courses and is necessary for careers such as teaching and nursing. It may allow you to progress to A Level Biology without an additional science GCSE at B or above.
