Construction and the Built Environment BTEC 90 Credit Diploma Level 3 at Colchester Institute

Course description

This programme is equivalent to 1.5 A Levels and consists of 9 units of study.

This is a work-related qualification reflecting the knowledge and understanding required in the industry:

  • Providing opportunities for learners to achieve a nationally¬≠ recognised level 3 vocationally-specific construction, civil engineering or building services qualification.
  • Providing opportunities for learners who are already in, or about to enter into employment.
  • Providing education, training and the application of knowledge in technical areas that are directly relevant to the industry.

You will be given the opportunity to apply your learning in a practical and realistic way. In addition to your main programme, you will study English and Maths. Depending on your grades on entry, you may study GCSEs English or Maths.

This course is delivered through a mixture of classroom tuition, practical skills, guided assignment work and personal study.

Entry requirements

Normally a minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A*- C) to include maths, science/technology and English, or an NVQ/Diploma (Merit). Students will be required to attend an interview as part of the admissions process.

Future opportunities

This course enables access to many vocational pathways such as architecture, building surveying, civil engineering and construction management.
