Business and Administration Apprenticeship Level 3 at Middlesbrough Council
The apprenticeship is about playing an important support role within a business or organisation.
Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly. The term 'administration' covers roles that involve organising people and resources. Without them, information would be hard to find, meetings would be missed and businesses would be less productive.
As a business and administration apprentice your exact duties will depend on your employer. It is likely that you will be working with a team or a member of staff to handle various tasks. You may be typing up board meeting documents, putting financial information together in spreadsheets, sending the daily post, or faxing and photocopying confidential documents. This sort of work requires a strong sense of responsibility, accuracy and attention to detail.
The apprenticeship is delivered by Mouchel Training Centre and consists of:
- Functional skills
- Technical Certificate
An interest in administration is essential. For the advanced apprenticeship, applicants should already be working in an office environment and have developed a complex range of skills, which enables them to carry out skilled or supervisory work. Acceptance onto the programme will be subject to successfully completing an initial assessment and interview.
You will be assessed within the workplace by an Assessor from Mouchel using a combination of direct observation, witness testimonies, reflective accounts, written and/or oral questions and professional discussion.
Possible job roles upon completion
- Clerical assistants
- Personal assistant/Secretary/Executive assistant
- Legal secretary
- School secretary
- Revenues and Benefits assistant officer/Pensions officer
- Finance assistant
