AS General Studies consists of two units covered in one year. Unit 1 - Culture and Society Beliefs, values and moral reasoning Religious belief and experience, and connections between them Understanding and appreciation of the nature and importance of culture Creativity and innovation Aesthetic evaluation Media and communication Unit 2 - Science and Society Assessment Unit 1 1¼ hours 33/3 % of the total AS mark Unit 2 1¼ hours 33/3 % of the total AS mark As well as Either Unit 3W 1¼ hours 33/3% of the total AS mark or Unit 3C - Coursework 33/3% of the total AS mark

Future opportunities

This course is a recognised qualification that involves topics from other advanced level courses and can be taken alongside all of them to prepare for higher education. This qualification can often play an important factor in securing a place in a higher education institution.
