OCR National: Media Studies at Ashby School
Media Studies explores a wide variety of media, such as web sites, music videos, magazines, newspapers, TV programmes, computer games, advertisements and films. Students learn about the media industries, considering the production process, marketing and distribution, and about media audiences, divided by age, gender, education, class, etc. Students also develop practical skills: learning how to script, storyboard, shoot and edit short film sequences, how to create magazine covers and articles for different audiences, how to design web pages and much more, depending on the student's own interests and subject choices. The qualification is equivalent to four GCSEs.
