Advanced Subsidiary GCE in Computing at Cockermouth School

Course description

SYLLABUS CONTENT:  UNIT 1 - practical on screen exam demonstrating a knowledge of the fundamental principles of computing focusing on programming through a problem solving scenario. UNIT 2 - focusing on hardware, software and economic aspects of computing. A2 UNIT 3 - focus on computational thinking. UNIT 4 -report on a computer based programmed solution to a problem solving exercise of your choice. 

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs (A*-C) for entry into Sixth Form including a B grade in Maths and ICT.


Unit 1 is an on screen 2hr exam. Unit 2 is a written exam of 1 hour, Unit 3 is a 2.5hr written exam and Unit 4 is internally assessed course work.
