Construction - Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 1 at North Kent College

Course description

Learners will be taught by trade experienced, professional tutors in a well equipped, modern workshop in Gravesend.


The course is a mixture of practical and theory. Students will learn how to work safely in construction, relay information, calculate quantities and communicate with others, building methods and construction technology. They will learn how to make basic woodworking joints, how to maintain and use hand tools and portable power tools.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE grade D in mathematics and English supported by two grade Es, one in a science

Assessment

Portfolio, unit end tests, online exam and synoptic practical test

Future opportunities

Employment in trade, full time level 2 course in either Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery, or an apprenticeship attending college 1 day a week.
