Football Coaching Academy Level 2 Certificate at Chichester College

Course description

The programme is 'practically based' and involves knowledge of the game, developing personal football skills and practical coaching. The course will enable you to gain 2 mandatory qualifications: FA L2 Certificate in Coaching and C & G Certificate in Sport as well as a Functional Skill. There will also be the opportunity to undertake the FA Youth Module 2 and FA Disability courses.

Course content

The programme is 'practically based' and involves knowledge of the game, developing personal football skills and practical coaching. The course will enable you to gain 2 mandatory qualifications: FA L2 Certificate in Coaching and C & G Certificate in Sport as well as a Functional Skill. There will also be the opportunity to undertake the FA Youth Module 2 and FA Disability courses. 

On successfully achieving this recognised qualification candidates will be able to: * Develop an appreciation of the ethical coaching process * Plan, conduct and evaluate football coaching sessions * Coach basic skills and techniques of football * Promote positive working relationships * Ensure the health & safety of players and others * Develop responsibility for own learning * Demonstrate principles of attack & defence through practices and small sided games (4v4) 

Entry requirements

You must be 16 before 1 September on year of entry, 2 GCSEs at A - C or BTEC equivalent / progression from Level 1 or the FA L1 or Youth Award. An interview process is mandatory.

Assessment

Assessments will generally be practically based, however there will be some elements of theory that will be marked.

There will be a course fee - currently £155 (subject to change) to cover all
FA course packs and first aid and safeguading courses.
 
 

Future opportunities

There is an option to progress to a BTEC Diploma or the new L.3 in PE
teaching which will give accreditation to apply for the Foundation Degree in
Coaching at Chichester University. This pathway is an outstanding start
to any coaching career.

Further information

We have outstanding sporting facilities. There is a Sports Hall
which includes a Fitness Suite. There is also a floodlit Astro pitch as
well as grass pitches, netball and tennis courts. There is the
opportunity for students to play many and varied sports. There is also a
lively Student Union.
