Course description

Can you imagine yourself working with the general public?

Are you interested in a career in the Police, Fire Service or Armed Services, or the leisure industry ?

Do you like a challenge?

This course is for young people with few qualifications who are interested in a career such as Sport and Leisure, or the Armed Forces or Emergency Services.

Course content

Minimum 3 x GCSEs Grade E and above, including Maths and English
You should have a good record of achievement / progress file. You must have a keen interest into work in the Uniformed Public Services or the Sports and Leisure industry References will be requested from your former educational institution

Entry requirements

You will participate in a range of practical indoor and outdoor sporting activities, and organise your own event. You will learn about the healthy body, how to work effectively as part of a team, and starting a career in this industry.

You will study units such as:
- Job opportunities in sport and active leisure
- Career progression
- Working in Sport and active leisure

Public Services:
Experienced Tutors with a service background will provide you with the knowledge you will need to work towards a career in the Armed Forces and Emergency Services.

Guest speakers from various areas of the Uniformed Services will deliver lectures and provide practical training sessions.

You will study units such as:

- Public service incidents
- Public Services—Assisting the public
- Developing personal skills for leadership

Further information

Students will get the opportunity to participate in various activities relating to Sport and Public Services.
