BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport (Level 3) at Maltby Academy

Course description

A vocationally based course which allows learners a mix of practical activities combined with the underpinning theoretical understanding that prepares them for higher education or employment in the area of sport and recreation.

This course is equivelent to 3 A Levels and must be studied as a  full time qualification. Students submit evidence for each unit which is centre assessed and externally verified. Evidence is through continous assessment in the form of assignments.

Course content

In addition to the units covered in the National Subsidiary Diploma nd the National Diploma, you will also cover the folowing units:

  • Practical Team Sports
  • Organising Sports Events
  • Exercise Health & Lifestyle
  • Talent Identification and Sports Development
  • Physical Education and the Care of Children and Young People
  • Analysis of Sports Performance

Entry requirements

5 A*-C GCSE grades including English and Maths at a grade 5+


Externally Assessment exam in Anatomy & Physiology

Externally set and marked tasks by Pearson UK
