Performing and Production Arts - Acting UAL Level 3 Diploma at Doncaster College
The Diploma in Performing and Productions Arts (Acting) is a one year course designed to introduce you to the skills needed to become a Professional actor.
You learn through practical performance workshops, rehearsals and live performance projects both on stage and in front of a camera.
All activities will be underpinned by developing core acting skills and techniques. The Course is equivalent to 1.5 A levels.
The course is made up of practical and theory projects and workshops giving learners the opportunity to expand their horizons within the field of Performing Arts acting and specific disciplines.
These include film and TV acting, principles of acting, drama improvisation, physical theatre, devising and understanding production elements of performance.
- 4 GCSEs grades A*-C including English
- or a BTEC/UAL equivalent at Merit
- All applicants must complete an initial assessment in Maths and English
- All applicants must attend an interview and audition.
The course is made up of a number of units and assessments of these units will be through practical workshops and performance and an on-going portfolio. Final assessments will take place at the end of the year in the shape of a collaborative performance.
Previous National Diploma students have gone on to study Performing Arts at degree level at Universities and Drama schools.
Opportunities exist to enter the performing arts business within holiday camps and animation team activities, film and TV extra work and various roles within the light entertainment industry, but further training would be recommended to achieve employment in many professional job roles.
Many learners will progress onto degree level courses at University or Drama School. Past learners have successfully secured places at Rose Bruford, East 15 and LIPA.
