Computer Studies BTEC Level 3 Extended Certificate at Hove Park School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

The computing course is designed to support learners who are interested in learning about the computer sector whilst also learning about other fields of study. Students will study various areas focusing on the principles of computer science and the fundamentals that make up any computing system. They will also delve into the world of IT by looking at IT systems and their security as well as getting to grips with encryption. As well as giving students an in depth study of computers and the digital world, the course will also teach students many transferable skills allowing students to progress onto higher education in a variety of sectors or move into apprenticeships and the working world.

Entry requirements

GCSE in English and Maths at grade C or above.


The full two year course has 4 assessed units. Two of these will be assessed internally and two by external moderators. Assessment will be a combination of written work, exams and coursework.
