Technical Diploma in Early Years Education & Care Level 3 at Ashford College

Course description

Build the knowledge and skills to work unsupervised with children and young people.

Throughout the two year programme you will complete a minimum of 750 hours at a range of early years settings from 0-7 years.

In class-based and workplace sessions, you will learn about:

• Child development from conception to seven years
• Children’s health and wellbeing
• Providing a safe environment for children
• Preparing for school readiness

Entry requirements

You will need five GCSEs at Grade A*-C/9-4, including English and maths, or a Level 2 qualification in Early Years Educator, with GCSE English and maths at Grade C/4 or above. You will be interviewed and a place on the course is subject to a DBS check and positive reference. You will also need to demonstrate during interview, that you have the resilience, capacity and attitude required to work in the early years sector.

Future opportunities

Work in a nursery setting or move into higher education, such as the College’s Foundation Degree in Early Years or a primary teaching degree.
