Warehousing Apprenticeship at CWT Chamber Training

Course description

The warehousing and distribution industry offers a diverse choice of job roles in a continually growing sector with opportunities readily available. It is a complex business and no two warehouses are the same. They have different customers, products, procedures and rules. If you want to move on in the industry, you need to prove that you can not only do your job, but that you can adapt to different circumstances, for example a different location, a different type of customer etc. The best way to do this is through an Apprenticeship.

An Apprenticeship offers an opportunity to gain qualifications whilst you are working. You will get high quality work experience in your chosen occupational area, develop your CV with nationally recognised qualifications as well as enjoy a salary and all of the perks of working life.

Course content

Throughout your Apprenticeship you will be required to perform a range of tasks which could include:

  • Receiving and putting goods into storage
  • Auditing stock levels
  • Assembling orders
  • Processing orders for goods
  • Receiving deliveries
  • Dispatching goods

You will enjoy the best of both worlds, spending the majority of your time gaining practical experience in the work place. In addition you will be undertake off the job training to develop your knowledge further. We also offer specialist workshops to enhance your English and Maths skills which will take your career further.

Entry requirements

In general you will need to be friendly, approachable, helpful and organised. You will need to be prepared for hard work, be flexible and work effectively under pressure both individually and as part of a team.

Whatever your GCSE grades or experience we will recommend an appropriate starting point for your career in retailing, warehousing or distribution. You may have to work shifts, which may include weekends and early evenings, it will depend on your job role and working environment.

Assessment

Apprenticeships are achieved through assessment and training. Assessment is normally through on-the-job observation and questioning. You will produce evidence to prove that you meet national qualification standards. You will be appointed a Training Advisor who will work with you throughout your Apprenticeship. The Training Advisor will test your knowledge; understanding and work-based performance to make sure that you can work effectively in your chosen career.

Before you start an Apprenticeship, CWT Chamber Training will help you to identify the correct course and level, identify what you already know, analyse what you need to learn and agree an individual plan of learning based on your needs.

Typically you will undertake a mixture of training in the workplace as well as attending CWT Chamber Training's training facility for additional learning.
