Professional Cookery Level 1 Diploma at West Cheshire College

Course description

If you’re interested in working in the hospitality industry, and would particularly like to work in food preparation, this course is for you. It will give you the confidence to work in busy environments and you will learn the principles of food preparation, including the basic principles of cooking meat, fish, and vegetables. Teamwork is an important element of the course and you’ll have the opportunity to put your skills to the test in our real commercial kitchens. The course will give you the skills to enter the food industry at trainee or Commis chef level or progress on to a Level 2 course.

Course content

You will learn the principles of food preparation including the basic principles of cooking including meat, fish, and vegetables.

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at grade G or above or successful completion of a Vocational Studies programme including English and maths.

Assessment

You will be continually assessed throughout the programme.
