Course outline (syllabus, assessment and activities)

AS Level
Investigating Media:
Students study a variety of broadcast, print and electronic media texts (assessment: 2 hour written paper).

Creating Media:
Students plan and produce two pieces of linked coursework with a written evaluation.

A2 Level
Critical Perspectives:
Students study topic areas in representation and new media, applying contemporary critical debates and theory.

(assessment: 2 hour written paper).

Research and Production Coursework:
Students undertake written research into an agreed media text or theme and link this to an independent media production.

Entry requirements

At least 5 A*-C including English and Maths.

Grade B or above in English at GCSE Level. Please note that GCSE Media is NOT a requirement but candidates should also have a Grade B or above in either Media or English Literature.
