Creative Media BTEC level 2 at Edmonton County School

Course description

This is a level 2 course designed to give you a broad understanding of Media whilst also allowing plenty of scope to focus on selected areas of the industry such as moving image production and print production. You will gain an understanding of the ways in which Media organisations are managed and how media products are marketed. You will be encouraged to develop a critical awareness of the media in society and will actively explore ethical, moral, social and cultural dimensions.

Course content

The first four units you will explore are:

Unit 1: Research for Creative Media Production

Unit 2: Communication Techniques for Creative Media Production

Unit 3: The Creative Media Sector

Unit 4: Media Audiences and Products

Students will also study an additional 4 specialist units covering Moving Image, Photography, Radio and Printed Media.

Entry requirements

A grade C in English is preferable along with 5 A* - E grades at GCSE.

Assessment

The course is 100% internal assessment.

Future opportunities

The course has been designed to provide a broad knowledge of Media and will develop a range of skills directly relevant to employment in the media industry.
