Health and Social Care BTEC level 3 (single award) at The Thomas Aveling School

Course description

To achieve this qualification students will study portfolio based units in the classroom and through independent study, small group work and one-to-one tutorials.

During the course you will be covering a range of different topics that include:

  • Communication;
  • Equality;
  • First Aid;
  • Sociology;
  • Psychology;
  • Human Development;
  • Care Values;
  • Nutrition;
  • Physiology 
  • Anatomy.

The assignment tasks set to satisfy the grading criteria will be varied, including witness statements and teacher observation, essays and practical tasks.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSE passes at Grade A* - C is needed in subjects relevant to the course, and may include a Pass, Merit or Distinction in BTEC First Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 2). 

 

Future opportunities

The BTEC gives learners the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment in the Care sector or to progress to higher education.

The qualification also gives learners the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques, personal skills and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.
