Course description

Level 3 Certificate - Year 12

A full-time, highly specialised, vocational qualification which gives students the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to prepare for employment or higher level study.

You will study seven Mandatory Units:

  • Unit 1 – Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 2 – Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 3 – Health , Safety and Security in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 4 – Development through the life stages
  • Unit 5 – Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care
  • Unit 6 – Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 7 – Sociological Perspectives on Health and Social Care

Plus further Optional Units

Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma - Year 13

A full-time, highly specialised, vocational qualification which gives students the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to prepare for employment or higher level study.

You will study a further seven Mandatory Units:

  • Unit 8 – Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care
  • Unit 9 – Values and Planning in Health and Social Care
  • Unit 10 – Caring for Children and Young people
  • Unit 11 – Safeguarding Adults and Promoting Independence
  • Unit 12 – Public Health
  • Unit 13 – Physiology of Fluid Balance
  • Unit 14 – Physiological Disorders

Plus further Optional Units

Entry requirements

7 D‐G at GCSE with a strong interest in Health and Social Care areas and willingness to undertake work experience in a local early year or care setting environment.
