Course description

A Level 2 Apprenticeship in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations is an ideal way to gain practical skills in the workplace while working towards a valuable qualification at college. A painting and decorating apprenticeship will teach you how to prepare surfaces, match colours, apply coatings and wallpaper and work with a variety of materials. This pathway is suitable for anyone who is good with their hands and has an interest in the industry. You will work with your employer on a variety of different indoor and outdoor spaces to utilise the relevant skills needed to succeed in painting and decorating. Work-based units will include: Health, safety and welfare, Conforming to productive working practices, Moving, handling and storing resources, Erecting and dismantling working platforms, Preparing surfaces for painting & decorating and Applying paint by brush and roller. College based units will include: Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication, Prepare surfaces for decoration, Applying paint by brush and roller, Applying paper to ceilings and walls, Produce specialist decorative finishes.

Apprenticeships are Government funded depending upon age and circumstance.
