What is the Certificate/Diploma in Financial Studies?

Why study for the Certificate/Diploma in Financial Studies?
This course is suited to students who wish to learn how to make informed and confident decisions regarding their finances or are considering a career in the Financial Sector or a Business or Finance degree course.
Unit 1 – Financial Capability for the Immediate and Short Term
This unit will look at the role financial services can play in assisting life planning in the immediate and short term.
Unit 2 – Financial Capability for the Medium and Long Term
This unit will study the ability to plan and manage money in the medium and long term.
Unit 3 – Sustainability of an Individual’s Finances
This unit explores how financial service providers can help individuals plan for their financial needs in a sustainable way.
Unit 4 – Sustainability of the Financial Services System
This unit explores the methods used by the industry to provide products which meet customers’ needs in a sustainable and profitable way.
You should have attained at least a Grade C in GCSE Mathematics. GCSE Grade C or above in English and / or Business would be useful, but not essential, if you are enthusiastic and prepared to work hard.
A particularly good choice for those wishing to go on to Higher Education after Sixth Form as it will prepare you for the financial rigours ahead. It is also very useful for those considering a Business, Financial or Economics based degree or for going straight into employment.
