Public Services BTEC Level 3 at Deanery High School and Sixth Form College

Course description

This course enables students to develop a broad understanding of Public Services. With guest speakers and close links with Greater Manchester and Lancashire Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue,Wigan Culture and Leisure Trust and the Army,students are introduced to ‘real life scenarios concerning a number of Public Services.

UNIT 1 – Government, policies & the Public Services

UNIT 2 - Leadership & teamwork in the Public Services

UNIT 3: Citizenshipo, diversity & the Public Services

UNIT 5: Physical preparation, health & lifestyle for th ePublic Services

UNIT 8 - Understanding the impact of war, conflict and terrorism on Public Services

UNIT 17: Police powers in the Public Services

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grade C or above (including English language)


Assessment for each unit is generated through a range of diverse activities including workplace simulation, role play and presentation. At the end of each unit you will have completed a portfolio of evidence demonstrating where you have met the assessment criteria.
