AS/A HEALTH & SOCIAL CARE (DOUBLE) at Peter Symonds College

Course description

You will study 6 units (ASDouble):

  • Promoting Quality Care – examined unit
  • Communication in Care Settings*
  • Promoting Good Health*
  • Caring for People with Additional Needs*
  • Early Years Care and Education*
  • Caring for Older People – examined unit

* Coursework units

In year 2 you will study 6 further units covering topics such as mental health, anatomy and physiology, child development, understanding human behaviour (Psychology) research methods and care practice.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE’s at Grade A*-C including English and Maths. We also require a grade B in a GCSE essay-based subject due to the coursework component of the subject.

This is a 2 AS/A2 course with a strong link between theory and practice in Health and Social Care providing you with contact with health, social and early years care services during the course of your studies.
