Intermediate Apprenticeship

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship in Warehousing and Storage Skills
  • Functional Skills in Maths Level 1
  • Functional Skills in English Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills
  • Fork lift truck certificate (optional)
  • First Aid (optional)

Length of the course - 12 months Approximately

What you'll be doing

During the Apprenticeship you will cover areas such as:

  • Process orders for customers
  • Assemble orders for dispatch
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment
  • Moving and/or handling goods
  • Use equipment to move goods
  • Keep stock at required levels
  • Check stock levels and stock records
  • Operate equipment to requirements
  • Picking and Receiving goods

Warehousing operatives undertake various duties such as, dealing with goods and products that come in and out of a warehouse, updating databases, maintaining stock levels, etc.

To become a warehousing Apprentice you do not need any formal qualifications, although employers do look for qualifications in English and Maths.

Entry requirements

In order to start a Warehousing Apprenticeship at either Level 2 or 3, you need to have a job or a placement in the industry as it is a work-based qualification. Warehousing does not require you to have any formal qualifications however some employers do ask for qualifications in English and Maths.

There are many places that you can go to find a job; the Total People Website, the National Apprenticeships Service Website, local newspaper, Internet job sites and the Job Centre Plus. You can also try friends and family to see if they know anyone who might have a vacancy.

Financial information

Aged 16-18
Fully funded

Aged 19-23
Fully funded for employers with less than 1000 employees. For employers with 1000+ employees, please contact us for further details.

Aged 24 and over
Total People require employers to make a contribution towards the cost for all learners aged 24 years and over, embarking on an Apprenticeship.

Future opportunities

After completing your Apprenticeship in Warehousing, you will be able to progress onto further qualifications or promote to higher positions including supervisor and managerial.
