ICT BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma at Franklin College

Course description

Are you keen to learn skills in graphics and web design? Are you interested in learning how to upgrade a computer? Do you want to learn about animation and how to design a computer game? Are you interested in using IT to help you solve modelling problems for businesses and accounts through use of Spreadsheets?

If you are interested in any of these then then the BTEC ICT Single Award could be for you. Over the course of two years you will study six units that cover aspects of IT Technical jobs, Web Development, Games Design, Animation, Data Analysis.

You will develop skills in communication to promote employability skills and enhance teamwork. You will learn how to produce a website and understand the coding behind it as well as understand the factors that influence website performance. You will also develop an understanding of computer components and how to upgrade a computer system.

In the second year you will develop skills in animation techniques and animation uses. You will learn to produce your own animations that could be placed onto a website or be used for advertising. You will develop introductory skills in computer game design.  You will also develop skills in using and customising Spreadsheets that allow you to analyse data and mathematical models. 

Entry requirements

Five GCSE grades A*-C or equivalent to include English Language and Maths.

Future opportunities

The IT industry offers a wide range of career opportunities, including technical support and website design or any other career that requires use of IT. Students often progress on to university, apprenticeships or employment.
