Introduction to Further Education at Bridgwater College

Course description

This programme is specifically designed for 16 –19 year olds who require a safe and supportive environment to be able to develop their confidence and self-esteem before moving onto employment or Further Education. This programme aims to support the social and emotional and mental health needs of leaners as well as academic attainment. 

Course content

After initial assessment you will be supported through the process of building portfolios in a range of subjects that are relevant to your future needs. You will undertake a City and Guilds qualification and work towards accreditation in English and Maths.

Entry requirements

You will need to be working at Entry Level 2 and above and have a desire to learn. You will need the skills to work within a group of 9 students with support. Entry is also subject to a successful interview and induction.


  • Staff will observe your work and give you regular feedback
  • You will build a portfolio of written and pictorial evidence of your learning
  • You will take written examinations in English and Maths
