Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles Diploma at Solihull College & University Centre
Our Level 2 course is for those developing their skills after achieving the Level 1 Diploma. You will learn about light vehicle repair and maintenance such as servicing, transmission, electrics, engines and car components.
During the course you will study:
- Health & Safety
- Chassis Components
- Engines and Components
- Vehicle Electrics
- Vehicle Servicing
- APL where applicable.
Minimum of 2 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above including Maths or successful completion of a relevant Level 1 engineering programme.
A suitable reference and a successful interview.
There will be seven online exams and a series of practical assessments along with a portfolio to build. Functional Skills assessment depends on level of entry and GCSE grades.
This qualification is accepted by the repair industry as the basic mechanic qualification and would be acceptable to gain employment as an improver.
Along with the Motor Vehicle subjects, you will also undertake Functional skills in Maths, English, and ICT.
You will need to provide your own boots and overalls and all necessary equipment for taking notes.
Good levels of English and Maths are important for your success in your course, your chosen vocation and life. Throughout your course you will continue to develop your English and Maths skills in your vocational classes.
If you haven't achieved an A*/9 - C/4 grade in English or Maths at GCSE, or a Level 2 Functional Skill, you will also be working towards a qualification in English or Maths at a level that will enable you to progress towards these grades.
