Course description

You will work towards the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering and the Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English. You will also achieve an Award in Employer Rights and Responsibilities and Personal Learning and Thinking Skills along with your Technical Certificate in Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering.

Entry requirements

To enter the programme you will need a minimum of two GCSEs at grade C or above, preferably in Maths and English, or have already achieved the Level 2 qualification. Following on from our recruitment procedure, if you are given a conditional offer for an apprenticeship, we will then work with you to find a suitable placement with a local employer.

Your progress is monitored and assessments are arranged throughout the course and are usually done on-the-job. Assessment has three aspects which include observation of your actual performance and your knowledge and understanding you display in response to written and/ or spoken questions, and a portfolio of support material which you will build up containing assignments, case studies and testimony evidence through the e-portfolio.

Financial information

While you are on an apprenticeship your employer pays you a salary and supports you whilst you undertake your training.

Future opportunities

If you successfully achieve your first apprenticeship we will then discuss with you and your employer about the posibility of your enrolment onto an advanced apprenticeship. This will depend on your ability and your job role opportunities in the workplace

Further information

On the apprenticeship programme you usually attend college one day a week and spend 30 hours minimum a week working with your employer.
