Uniformed Public Services BTEC Extended Diploma Level 3 at Bracknell and Wokingham College

Course description

If you are hoping for a career in the public services including police, fire, ambulance, prison and security services, military, UK Border Agency and community service organisations or any other emergency service related organisation, this is the course for you. While on the course, you’ll be taught by members of staff with public service experience, including the Police, RAF and a range of services. Units include: • Leadership and teamwork in the public services • Citizenship, diversity and the public services • Fitness testing and training • Skills for water and land-based outdoor and adventurous activities • Crime and its effects on society

Other qualifications which will enhance your CV. Evidence can be gained towards Duke of Edinburgh Award. Visits to public service organisations, including residential visits, form an important part of the course along with talks from guest speakers.

Units include: • Leadership and teamwork in the public services • Citizenship, diversity and the public services • Understanding discipline in the uniformed public services • Fitness testing and training for the public services • Skills for water and land-based outdoor and adventurous activities • Crime and its effects on society ADDITIONAL STUDIES Other qualifications which will enhance your CV. Evidence can be gained towards Duke of Edinburgh Award. Visits to public service organisations, which may include residential visits, form an important part of the course along with talks from guest speakers.

Entry requirements

• F our GCSEs at grade A*-C, including English Language, or equivalent vocational qualifications at merit level or higher • If you do not have a grade C in GCSE English Language and maths you will be required to be working towards achieving this alongside your course

Future opportunities

• The course will prepare you well for university, public service entry tests and employment in a number of industries such as the Army, Navy, Air Force, Police, Fire Ambulance Services or any employment where sport and recreation are involved • Higher Education - this course could give you between 120 and 420 UCAS points depending on your final grade
