SUMMARY OF THE SUBJECT CONTENT

AS Modules

AS Unit1 (INFO1): Practical Problem Solving in the Digital World, 50% of the total As marks &25% of the total A- level marks

AS Unit 2(INFO2) : Living in the Digital World.

A2 Unit 3(INFO3) : The use of ICT in the Digital world.

A2 Unit 2(INFO4) : Course work: practical issues involved in the use of ICT in the Digital world.

Entry requirements

a minimum os Six A*-C at GCSEs including atleast a grade C in English language and grade B in ICT.

Assessment

AS (INFO1): This is a written examination, which is externally marked by AQA and worth 50% of the total AS marks & 25% of the total A- level marks. The duration of the examination is 1hr 30mins.

AS (INFO2): This is a written examination, which is externally marked by AQA and worth 50% of the total AS marks & 25% of the total A- level marks. The duration of the examination is 1hr 30mins.

AS (INFO3): This is a written examination, which is externally marked by AQA and worth 60% of the total A2 marks & 30% of the total A- level marks. The duration of the examination is 2hours.

AS (INFO4): This is a written examination, which is externally marked by AQA and worth 40% of the total A2 marks & 20% of the total A- level marks.

 

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Information and Communication Technology, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Information and Communication Technology or more general higher education courses as the course offers skills that are useful in lots of subjects. With further training you could go into a job directly related to Information and Communication Technology such as a Computer Programmer, ICT Technician or Website Developer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge for entering today's workforce across many industries who depend on computers and technology more generally.
