Plumbing Diploma Level 1 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course gives you the opportunity to gain practical skills, and provides an insight into life as a plumber.

You will study environmental protection measures, fundamental  plumbing systems and health and safety.

If you enjoy doing practical things and you want a skill that you can use in different ways, this could be perfect course for you. To become a qualified plumber you will need to achieve a level 2 or 3 plumbing qualification, depending on your experience.

This course also enables you to gain the maths, English and interpersonal skills you’ll need for the second year of the Level 2 course.

Course content

You will study:

  • Fundamental plumbing systems
  • Environmental protection measures
  • Health and safety

You will need to follow technical drawings and plans, and have a careful and well-ordered approach to work.

You'll need a reasonable level of fitness and an awareness of safety issues and legal regulations.

You'll also need to be able to work as part of a team as well as alone and have good customer care skills.

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade E or Entry 3 in English & Maths Functional Skills.

Future opportunities

Upon completion, you may move on to an apprenticeship or a Level 2 qualification in plumbing or electrical installation.

Further information

You will need to wear suitable protective clothing and steel toe-capped boots or shoes.
