Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma at Weymouth College
The health and social care sector relies on fully trained and enthusiastic carers. Gaining work experience and broadening your knowledge of the sector will allow you to become a valued member of any team. Taught over two years, units include; communication, equality and diversity, and development through life stages.
You will be taught 18 units over two years. Units may include: • Communication in health and social care • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care • Development through life stages • Safeguarding adults and promoting independence. Work Experience Work experience is offered as part of this course and you will spend at least one day per week in placement from November.
• Selection is by interview. • 5 GCSEs at grade C including English and maths or equivalent or a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care with Merit • other information including references, assessment results, relevant experience and portfolio material may also be taken into account - need to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service application to attend work placements (Approx. cost £45 to be paid on enrolment) References may be taken into consideration. All units are assessed and graded and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. Assignments will involve individual and group work and will require the completion of investigations, reports and presentations.
You can progress to employment and undertake other related occupational training in the workplace, or you can progress to university for training in nursing, social work, and other related professions. You will also be able to progress onto the Foundation degree in Health & Social Care at Weymouth College.
