Business Studies A Level at New College Telford
The course suits you if you enjoy problem solving from a business perspective and have an interest in the global economy and the wider world of business and current affairs. Most units are examined through case studies, research tasks, and essays. Assessment is through formally set external exams.
You will learn about the range of activities involved in setting up a small business. You will look at enterprise and the role of the entrepreneur, how to protect business ideas, analyse the resources needed to set up a business and develop a business plan. You will examine the four functional areas of business: Finance, People, Marketing and Operations Management, and how a firm can successfully combine these areas to keep itself in business.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* to C including Maths; English Language at grade B.
Students who have previously studied Business Studies, often go on specialist business courses at university or joint degrees with other subjects such as Science and Languages. Students have pursued successful careers in Management, Marketing, IT and Finance.
This course can be combined with Maths, Economics, Law, IT/Computing, Travel and Tourism or Languages. Business Studies is also a broadening subject so could be combined with Humanities or Science subjects.
