Performing Arts (Acting) BTEC Level 2 First Extended Certificate at Hull College Group

Course description

This is a new and exciting Level 2 course. The fresh units represent the performing arts industry as it is today.

You will be given the opportunity to take either an acting route or dance, although some of the un its will cross over.

You will learn all you need to know about the world of performing arts from singing, devising your own work, using multimedia in performances, different dance and acting styles and many more innovative units/assignments.

This course will prepare you for the next level of your study/career, with a unit focusing on auditioning.

You will get the chance to perform to an audience up to 6 times throughout the year with two of the performances open to the public.

Entry requirements

4 GSCEs at D or above or equivalent, a D in English essential.

All students will partake in all of the elements of the Study Programmewhich include:

  • Vocational Studies
  • English and Maths
  • Additional learning goals 
  • Individual learner reviews
  • Work experience
  • Directed Personal Study

Additional vocational work will be set for students to work on in studio’s as Directed Personal study, outside of the above timetabled sessions. Hours per week for this Study programme are between 16hrs and 30hrs.

Each student has an Individual Study programme package dependant on previous qualification achievements. 

Dependant on previous qualifications, Maths and English are mandatory requirements for all students who have not achieved Grade C or above in GCSE. Additional learning goals will be studied dependant on individual students previous English and Maths achievements.
