Why study this subject at Hayesfield?

Maths is very highly regarded by universities because it is challenging and develops problem solving skills. The support you will get from teachers in Hayesfield’s Maths Faculty is second to none.

As a facilitating subject, Maths will not only be a fascinating subject in itself but will be a transferable skill supporting sciences and social sciences in your future studies.

Course content

This is a two-year A Level.

The course includes about two-thirds Pure Maths (a lot of algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, geometry and more) and one third Applied Maths (statistics and mechanics).

There is an emphasis on problem-solving as well as using technology with large data sets

Entry requirements

Grade 7 or above in Mathematics at GCSE. You must have the ability to be thorough in methods and to learn systems, to think logically and have a real love of Maths.


Three written exams in June of Year 13.

Accountancy, Statistics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Architecture, Economics, Computer Science, Robotics, Design and more.

Maths is a facilitating subject that is welcomed by Russell Group Universities.

Courses; Architecture; Health and Social Care, including Midwifery; Engineering (very useful for work placements etc).
