Vehicle Body Repair Advanced Apprenticehip Level 3 at PETROC
The Level 3 course will involve more complex tasks, for example identifying and rectifying body misalignment, MIG welding techniques, resistance spot welding operations, understanding of vehicle construction and materials for body repairs.
Knowledge will be assessed by a technical diploma in both theory and practical subjects and be completed at college. Evidence from the workplace will go towards a portfolio.
Students must have successfully completed the Level 2 Apprenticeship.
The course is assessed by both written and practical means. Students will be required to complete multiple choice question papers set on line. Practical assessments will be carried out in the workshop. The assessments in the workshop will be graded as 'competent' or 'not competent'. Students who do not pass first time will be given the opportunity to retake the assessment after guidance and further training. Assessments will also be carried out in the workplace.
This course is run at the Brannams Campus, Barnstaple, in a teaching environment that is similar to a modern vehicle body repair centre.
