Course description


Course content

During the course you will gain practical experience in a range of floristry skills including: · Hand tied and presentation designs · Wedding designs · Funeral and sympathy designs · Introduction to planted designs · Floral arrangements · Flower and plant care · Promotion and display A. Industrial experience Plus one Optional Unit · Business operations and sale · Introduction to Function Decorating . Enrichment . Study skills As part of your course it is compulsory that both F.T & P.T. students arrange a minimum of 40 hours practical experience in a Florists.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. You will be required to have a reasonable standard of English and maths.

Assessment

There are practical and written assignments for each unit. At the end of the year there will be a multiple choice test which is set to cover contents of all the units. You are also required to produce a portfolio of evidence.

Future opportunities

You may wish to progress onto a level 3 course i.e Advanced Certificate in Professional Floristry or seek employment within a florists or garden centre.

Further information

You will need a camera to generate photographic evidence for your portfolio. A tool kit (starter kit), a Society of Floristry Handbook available from your tutor and 3 Plant and Flower Identification Books. Students will be provided with basic flower materials at cost price. Additional sundries and materials may be purchased from your tutor at wholesale price.
