Course description

You will:

Develop and build on skills that have been taught at GCSE.

Improve your knowledge of key events in the past.

Develop the research and analytical skills that are valued by employers and universities.

Gain an insight into the different interpretations of the past and form your own judgements about why events happened as they did.

Course content

History is an interesting subject that allows you to explore the motives and actions of people in the past using a greater range of source material than you will have used before. It is a subject that will give you a great deal of choices in the future because it is flexible and well-regarded by employers and universities.

Future opportunities

History is a highly regarded A-Level subject because of the range of skills that it develops. These skills, such as being able to research effectively, structure high-quality arguments and consider the validity of different interpretations are applicable to a wide range of careers and university courses. These skills are particularly relevant to law, teaching, journalism and politics amongst many others, as well as setting students up well for further study.
