Hairdressing - C&G Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma at East Durham College

Course description

This Level 3 Diploma is an advanced vocational hairdressing qualification, which focuses on the development of the underlying principles and practical skills required in the hairdressing industry. It is designed to deliver occupational capability and provide a sound platform from which to prepare for employment or progress as a senior stylist or barber. The Men's requirements involve cutting facial hair and a variety barbering techniques.

Course content


Areas of study within this qualification are Health & Safety, supporting colleagues within the consultation process, advanced cutting techniques, short and long hair styling, creatively colouring hair to produce advanced techniques, various colour correction methods, promoting services and retail products to clients.


Entry requirements

Candidates will need to have achieved a Level 2 qualification in hairdressing or barbering together with the necessary personal qualities required by the hair and beauty industry.
All applicants will be interviewed and cover an initial assessment in an industry related task.
The required literacy and numeracy skills are Level 2 or working towards Level 2. Learners under 19 years of age will need to complete functional skills or GCSE depending on qualifications already achieved.


You will be assessed throughout the course, both practically and also assignments or on-line tests.

Financial information

If you have been a UK resident for the past 3 years and are under the age of 19 on the 31st August, you will not usually need to pay any course fees.

You will have the opportunity to progress into Industry

Further information

You may progress to Level 3 NVQ Barbering and/or L4 Diploma in Advanced Hairdressing Techniques.
