Art & Design AS/A-Level at Highams Park School

Course description

The AS/A2 Level course in Art & Design allows for more in-depth enquiry into a broad range of Fine Art and Applied processes. Gallery and location work forms an essential part of the course, and students are expected to complete much gallery work in their own time, in addition to our group visits to Kew Gardens, the Tate Galleries and Bishopsgate/Canary Wharf.

Entry requirements

We welcome students with a lively intellect who are keen to develop the skills to interpret and convey their ideas/feelings using art, craft and design. Students should have an interest in creating and understanding art and the determination to develop that interest. Students with below C at GCSE will be required to attend a portfolio interview with the Head of Department.

Future opportunities

With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior or Fashion Designer. The course will also encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for. You could take this course with other advanced level courses such as History of Art to prepare for higher education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses.
