English as a Foreign Language at Oaklands College
It is possible to enrol in September, January, and April but the course is seen as a 1 year programme starting in September. EFL classes are only offered in the morning, typically: EFL Intermediate (B1) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday EFL Upper Intermediate (B2) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday EFL Advanced (C1) 9.30-12.45 Monday/Wednesday Business English 9.30-11.30 Friday IELTS 11.45-13.45 Friday Please ask for information regarding days and times. You will study grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing at an appropriate level. You will also be prepared for Cambridge exams depending on demand. English as a Foreign Language classes are for the following people: *au pairs *international students *students who need a qualification for a job or university study e.g. IELTS, Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced English. *students who are only in the country for a short period e.g. 3 months. We start at Pre-intermediate/Intermediate level (A2/B1) so do not take beginners or elementary students. There are no fee concessions on these courses. If you are not sure, please contact the college for advice.
You will take a test in grammar, reading and writing. We may also interview you via Skype or over the phone to test your speaking skills. We start at Pre-intermediate level. For IELTS and Business English courses, we recommend that you are studying at Intermediate level as a minimum, but preferably at Upper Intermediate.
You will have regular tests throughout the course with an end of term test to assess your progress.
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
Students can continue to study at a higher language level or may continue to other courses or employment.
