Performing Arts, Acting Level 3 BTEC Diploma at Suffolk One
This course is aimed specifically at those with a practical interest in acting. If you have already had performing experience or have enjoyed the practical aspects of GCSE Drama, then this course would be ideal. The BTEC Subsidiary Diploma is the equivalent of one A Level. It consists of six modular units studied over the two years and would be taken alongside one of A Level Drama, Dance or Performance Studies as part of an A Level programme. The focus of this course will be practical; however, excellent organisational skills will be required in order to complete the necessary written assignments. There will be regular opportunities to see live performances and events at a number of exciting London venues. Students should budget for these costs in order to gain maximum benefit from this course.
You will study 2 mandatory modules; Performing to an Audience and Principles of Acting as well as 6 other units which will include Devising plays, Developing physical theatre, and Drama improvisation. This course will help you gain knowledge and understanding of different practitioners/styles, genres of drama, and develop your acting skills in a practical and theoretical way.
5 GCSE's A* - C including Maths or English and Drama where studied. All prospective students will be expected to prepare for and attend an audition.
This course is designed as a practical course and most of your marks are awarded based on the work you do in workshops, and during performances. There are written elements to the course that provide evidence of your work: these may include a workshop diary, reviews, evaluations and personal portfolios.
This course can lead to further study of Acting or Performing Arts at Drama school or university. Career choices include working as a performer, actor/actress, stagehand, entertainer or teacher.
