Further Mathematics AS at Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Students follow a six module course. There are two pure modules and a decision module in Year 12 to gain an AS in Further Mathematics. Course content: vectors and three dimensional co-ordinate geometry, matrix algebra and linear independence, critical path analysis and linear programming.

Entry requirements

5 minimum Grade C GCSEs, including an A grade in mathematics, plus enorollment on mathematics AS course

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Mathematics, which could lead onto higher education in areas of Mathematics, related areas such as Engineering, Economics, Physics or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Mathematics such as an Accountant, Engineer, Financial Adviser or Teacher. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
