IT (Network & Systems Support) BTEC 90 Credit Diploma at LeSoCo
This course will prepare you for entry to higher education in information technology, and give you the essential knowledge, understanding and skills to progress into a number of specific areas of work that will incorporate the use of information and communications technology, and move on to a more responsible job if already in employment. The programme is particularly suitable for those who would like to concentrate on the networking and systems support pathway. As a student on this course, you will take the following main modules: Communication and Employability Skills; Computer Systems; Information Systems; Spreadsheet Modelling; Software Design and Development; Organisational System Security; Managing Computer Systems; Computer networks, and Cisco. Students learn through a mix of workshops, written assignments, formal teaching and self-study. If you have not already gained a C grade for GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics, working towards this will form part of your programme of study.
Four GCSEs at grades A*-C; one of which must be GCSE English or GCSE Mathematics. Or successful completion of a Level 2 substantial qualification in a related subject - plus an initial assessment that indicates an appropriate level of English and mathematical ability, and a satisfactory reference.
Successfully completing this course can lead to the second year of the Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in IT on either the software development pathway or the networking and system support pathway. Alternatively, you may like to apply for higher education at Lewisham Southwark College, studying a foundation degree in the subject. You can also progress onto our Foundation Degree in Business and IT.
