Music at Wimbledon College
Three units in the first year lead to the AS- award, and a further 3 units in the second year leads to the A-Level award. These units involve developing performing skills, listening and awareness, and study of selected areas of musical development ( including jazz/popular music and world music as possible options). Composition and compositional techniques, plus the use of technology are also offered.
To follow the advanced Level 3 route you must have 5 or more GCSEs at Grade C or above. You just have Grade B in the AS level subject options you wish to study or Grade C in applied subject options.
You could take this course with other advanced level courses to prepare for higher education in Music related courses or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Music such as a Music Composer, Musician, Sound Technician or you may wish to use your music ability for recreational purposes. The course is designed to provide you with access to a range of music related employment and will also develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of other industries are looking for.
